INSTALLATION
WARNINGS
To prevent personal injury and property
damage, be sure wheel chocks, blocking
materials and lifting equipment are properly
secured and of adequate capacity to do the job
safely.
A come-a-long or chain fall with a
minimum capacity of one ton is required for
removal and installation of a differential
assembly.
Note:
Tighten all fasteners without special torques
specified, to standard torques listed in
Section 300-0080, STANDARD BOLT AND NUT
TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
1. Clean mating surfaces of the banjo and differential
assembly with a hydrocarbon solvent to remove dirt,
oil, grease, or other foreign matter. Wipe cleaned
surfaces dry. Apply a pliable non-hardening seal
material to the mounting surface of the banjo for a
leakproof seal. The seal is installed by pressing it in
place around the bolt circle on the banjo. The two
beads of the seal should be separated at each stud
and the seal slipped over the studs to make an
effective seal when the differential assembly is
bolted in place on the banjo.
2. Position the differential assembly under the vehicle
in front of the banjo housing.
3. Install chain fall or come-a-long to a suitable lifting
device and lift the differential assembly and carefully
position it on the studs of the banjo housing.
