This section describes how to connect an AC or DC power source for the 8820 MSR, in the
following sections:

The 8820 MSR supports auto-sense for 110/60 Hz or 220 VAC/50 Hz.
Connecting AC Power
To connect AC power, face the rear of the 8820 MSR (
) and use the following
guidelines:
Step 1
Make sure the power switch to the 8820 MSR is in the OFF (0) position.
Step 2
Locate the AC power cable.
Step 3
Attach the AC power cable to the Viva5100 AC receptacle.
Step 4
Attach a safety ground cable to the threaded stud next to the AC receptacle.
Step 5
Attach the other side of the safety ground wire to the customer supplied earth
ground.

OTE
The AC source for the 8820 MSR-AC must be current limited (fuse or
breaker) at no less than 10 Amperes at 110 VAC, 60Hz, or 6 Amperes at
220 VAC, 50Hz.

OTE
The safety ground wire should be a minimum 14 AWG UL listed stranded
wire. The wire will need a ring lug attached to the end which connects to
the 8820 MSR chassis. The ring lug will be connecting to the 8 x 32
threaded stud and secured in place with a nut provided with the unit. The
green and yellow safety ground cable is not provided by Tellabs.
