Install the 8820 MSR
You can install the 8820 MSR unit in a standard 19-inch relay rack. Reversible mounting
flanges accommodate either protruding
(Figure 4-1)
or flush
(Figure 4-2)
positions in the
rack. The 23-inch mounting brackets can only be installed in the mid-mount position. If the
rack is to be populated by more than one 8820 MSR unit, select a height consistent with the
local practices for partially-populated racks.

The 8820 MSR installs through the front of the relay rack.

OTE
Obtain assistance when lifting and aligning the 8820 MSR at the
installation rack. Always practice safe lifting practices to avoid personal
injury.
ARNING
Regardless of whether the 8820 MSR is installed at a rack or cabinet, be certain to
allow sufficient air flow clearance at all sides of the chassis. To ensure proper
functioning, the cooling system requires unrestricted air flow. Allow at least 6 in.
(15 cm) of clearance at the front, side, and rear of the rack. Each slot must be
populated with a PLM or blank, to ensure proper circulation of the cooling air
throughout the chassis cage and to maintain acceptable operating temperature.
