Changing the Control Stick Characteristics
The Q/Z-1250 transmitter is set up from the factory with “self-centering” throttle controls. When the
throttle stick is released, a spring causes it to go back to the zero center position immediately. This helps
to provide safe operation of the boat, especially for inexperienced users.
The springs that cause the “self-centering” can be deactivated, and then a ratchet activated on the throttle
sticks to allow the sticks to remain at the set throttle position even without being held there by the opera-
tor. This is sometimes preferred when using the Q/Z-1250 in “dual throttle” mode (Mode 3). It is also very
useful when conducting long surveys as the throttle stick can be left in position to maintain a constant
speed.
To change the spring and ratchet settings, four small screws can be accessed through the rear of the trans-
mitter, as shown below. The following adjustments are possible:
•
M1/3 – Right throttle spring off (clockwise), spring on (anti-clockwise).
•
M2/4 – Left throttle spring off (clockwise), spring on (anti-clockwise)
A – Right throttle ratchet off (anti-clockwise), ratchet on (clockwise). Two screws are under the protective
cover - use screw on right.
B - Left throttle ratchet off (anti-clockwise), ratchet on (clockwise). Two screws are under the protective
cover – use screw on left.
Screw A / B positions with protective covers removed:
1. The spring for the left (port) motor throttle can be turned off by turning the M2/4 screw anti-
clockwise.
