Setting Throttle End Points (Restricting Boat Speed)
The maximum throttle power can be adjusted on the transmitter to reduce the Q/Z-1250 top speed with
the stick(s) in the fully forward position. This allows for a fine control of boat speed and easier control of
the boat in slow or still water.
It is recommended that the throttle response is adjusted using the End Point Adjustment (EPA) before
commencing a survey. If the Q/Z-1250 is operated at maximum speed, battery life is adversely affected
and the total survey line distance that can be covered on each battery charge may be significantly less than
at a lower speed that will be more "fuel efficient".
Endurance is reduced significantly when operated at high speed.
Q/Z-1250For river discharge measurement applications the peak water velocity in the river and the river
width will determine the minimum safe top boat speed. The EPA setting should always provide a top
speed at least 20 to 30% higher than the river’s peak water velocity to avoid control issues and ensure that
the boat is not washed downstream by the flow in the river, since the top boat speed will be reduced when
the operator is applying steering input. An EPA setting of 75% ensures that the boat’s maximum speed ca-
pability is always available. An EPA setting of 55% will provide a top speed of approximately 1.5 m/sec,
while an EPA setting of 40% will provide a top speed of approximately 1.0 m/sec. EPA setting below 40%
are not recommended.
IMPORTANT: The EPA is set for each individual control model. For example, if model 1 opera-
tion (right stick steering, left stick throttle) is selected, the end points shown on the LCD panel only ap-
ply to model 1. To change the end points for the other control models, select each model in turn and
then follow the end point adjustment procedure for each mode.
