PGM/PST Matte Subpanel
With the new PGM/PST wipe software installed, there is different func-
tionality for downstream keyer (DSK) background mattes, DSK matte fills,
and DSK borderline mattes.
The Matte subpanel provides control to the matte generators for down-
stream keyers (DSKs), key borders, and backgrounds. Several Matte types
are available. These include user defined wash, secondary wipe wash, or
flat.
Background Mattes
■
With the new software, flat mattes remain the same as in previous soft-
ware versions.
Note
The previous operation of a USER DEF WASH for BKGD was to hold down the
USER DEF WASH button and then twist the BRIGHT/TEX knob to introduce
texture into the wash. With the v 6.0R2 software, the PATTERN MIX must be
enabled with texture selected in the menu for PTN MIX TYPES for PGM/PST
SEC WIPE for this to occur.
■
The User defined wash uses the PGM/PST secondary wipe generator.
This allows the PRI WIPE to be used for transitions. Any wipe can be
selected for use as the wash, and this wipe can be pattern mixed to tex-
ture. Turning on WASH ROTATE in the MATTE menu will also turn on
the ROT POS in the PGM/PST secondary wipe panel. Wipe rotation
can be adjusted in either the WASH menu or on the WIPE panel.
■
The SEC WIPE WASH button activates the M/E 1 secondary wipe as
the wash, since the wipe delegation panel reflects the delegation of the
M/E 1 secondary wipe. With the exception of the additional pattern
selection for the user defined wash, the functionality otherwise remains
the same as in previous software versions.
There are two methods to access the user defined wash menu for back-
ground mattes:
■
The first method to access the menu is to double press the USER DEF
WASH key. This takes you to the matte menu, where you can turn on
WASH ROTATE.
■
The second method to access the menu is to go to the MATTE menu.
