4 The TG234 wireless access point
DMS3-CTC-25-221 v1.0
4.1 Connecting via WPS
WPS
Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) allows you to add new wireless clients to your local network in a swift and easy way.
Requirements
The wireless 5 GHz access point, or wireless 5 GHz client must support WPS, and the applicable WPS service (WPS PBC
and/or WPS PIN) must be enabled. Check the documentation of your device for this.
If your gateway does
not
support WPS, see
“4.3 Connecting manually without WPS” on page 42
to set up your wireless
connection.
Procedure
For each device that you want to connect, proceed as follows:
1
Shortly press the WPS button on the
TG234
:
- or -
Start WPS on the TG234 GUI page.
2
The WPS button LED starts blinking orange slowly. This indicates that the TG234 is now searching for wireless networks
that are in WPS registration mode.
3
Start WPS on the other device (for example, another TG234, a 5 GHz wireless gateway, a computer,...) of the wireless
connection.
4
The devices are now exchanging the wireless settings.
5
At the end of the procedure, the status of the WPS LED will change to one of the following:
Solid green
This indicates that you have successfully set up a connection.
Blinking orange
This indicates that each end of the wireless connection could not find each other. Use the same procedure to try again
(you do not need to wait until the LED turns off).
Blinking red
This indicates that an error occurred.
See
“4.2 Starting WPS on the TG234 GUI” on page 39
for details.
Consult the documentation of your gateway or device to find how to start WPS.
Once that you finished step 2, you have two minutes to finish step 3. Or you may need to repeat step 2 and 3 again.
