Voltage Rating The maximum voltage a component can withstand without breaking down.
Voltage
Regulator
A circuit or device that maintains a constant output voltage even when there
is changing line voltage and/or load current.
Voltage Source Circuit or device that supplies voltage to a load.
W
Watt
Unit of power. One watt is the product of one volt and one amp
(represented by the symbol “ W” ).
Wattage
An amount of power, especially electric power, expressed in watts or
kilowatts. Also, the electric power required by an appliance or a device.
Wattage Rating The maximum amount of power a device can continuously safely handle.
X -Z
X-ON/X-OFF
Transmitter On/Transmitter Off.
Used for flow control, instructing a
terminal to start transmission and end transmission.
Zener Diode
Silicon semiconductor device used as a voltage regulator because of its
ability to maintain an almost constant voltage with a wide range of currents.
