The display of the T32R is a so called Vacuum Flourescent Display
(VFD) which are well regarded for their high contrast, good
readability and high reliability. However, as with many displays a
continuously applied high brightness, combined with a static content,
will cause unequal aging of the display segments, making some being
brighter than others.
The T32R incorporates two features which allow you to prevent
unequal display aging: an automatic mode to switch down the
display brightness after a given
hold time
(1)
or user selectable reduced
brightness settings which are invoked using the
display
key.
When the T32R leaves the factory it will illuminate its display at
high
brightness
for a
hold time
of 60 seconds, before switching the display
down to
low brightness
. Any change to the display content will
automatically switch the display back to
high brightness
.
You can also switch the display brightness to
high, mid, low
brightness
or
off
, using the display key.
