6.1.1 Description of the menu items
The following table details important functions of the HVA.
Function
Explanation
Basisc settings
Initial commissioning
During initial commissioning, the installation size, its water treatment
system and the system pressure are pre-set. Based on this
information, the device operates with basic default parameters, which
can, however, also be adjusted to individual settings.
Water treatment
If the device is equipped with a water treatment cartridge, the latter
has to be pre-set. Select the appropriate cartridge type (HWE, HVE,
HVE+) and then set the size of the cartridge. In addition to standard
cartridges, cartridges of different sizes can be selected, from 1…100
liters. By confirming the cartridge exchange with a “YES”, the scope
of a completely filled cartridge will be calculated, by selecting “NO”,
stored data regarding the water consumptiom since the last cartridge
replacement will be considered .
Water hardness
To calculate the scope of the water treatment cartridges, raw water
hardness and soft water hardness are important pieces of information.
Both parameters have to be determined through measurements and
entered into the device. Then, the calculated capacity will be displayed
in liters . .
Target pressure
For automatic filling of the heating installation, the system pressure
has to be monitored. This is done by a pressure sensor. To start
the refill process, the system pressure must have dropped below a
defined value (refill pressure = target pressure - differential pressure).
If the system pressure falls below the refill pressure, the isolating
valve opens and the refill process begins. Once the system pressure
reaches the pre-set target pressure, the refill process is completed.

Language
The following languages can be selected: German, English.
Hardness
Regardless of the chosen language, water hardness can be set in the
following units: °dH, °eH, °fH, ppm.
Maximum initial filling
time
To fill a new or empty heating installation for the first time, the time to
fill it is monitored. If the system pressure fails to be reached during the
foreseen time, initial filling will be aborted. Initial filling is done during
the commissioning or in case of an emptied system, not thereafter.
The time required depends upon the size of the installation selected
beforehand. .
Maximum refill time
Refill times are monitored and if they are exceeded, the process
will be aborted. Given that a refill presupposes previous filling of the
system, monitoring times can be briefer. If the system exceeds the
foreseen maximum refill time without reaching the target pressure,
leakage is presumed and the isolating valve will close.
Differential pressure
Differential pressure indicates the pressure difference that may occur
between the beginning and the end of the filling process and is used
in connection with the target pressure setting. .
Filling cycles
The number of filling cycles indicates the number of potential
automatic refills of the system within a given time without assuming
a malfunction. This limit value refers to the automatic refill process. If
the set number of refills for the chosen timeframe has been reached
(day, week, month, year), this will be considered a malfunction and
there will not be any more refills.
Manual entry of
residual capacity
If you switch between different cartridge types or if partially emptied
cartridges are used again until they are completely emptied, the
residual capacity (filling level in %) can be entered manually
Limit value
volume-based leakage
To protect against leakage, we measure the water volume throughout
the entire filling process. If the volume exceeds the set limit value, one
assumes that there is a leak. The system aborts the refill process and
notifies the suspected case of leakage.
