Parameter Menus

Decode UPC/EAN Supplementals

Parameter # 0x10

Supplementals are additionally appended characters (2 or 5) according to specific code
format conventions (e.g., UPC A+2, UPC E+2, EAN 8+2). Three options are available.

•

If UPC/EAN with supplemental characters is selected, UPC/EAN symbols without
supplemental characters are not decoded.

•

If UPC/EAN without supplemental characters is selected, and the SE-923 is
presented with a UPC/EAN plus supplemental symbol, the UPC/EAN is decoded
and the supplemental characters ignored.

•

An autodiscriminate option is also available. If this option is selected, scan

UPC/EAN Supplemental Redundancy

on page 5-31, then select a value from the

numeric bar codes beginning on page 5-102. A value of 5 or more is recommended.

Note:

In order to minimize the risk of invalid data transmission, we
recommend that you select whether to read or ignore supplemental
characters.

Select the desired option by scanning one of the bar codes on the following page.
