Batteries - split boxes
The batteries are contained within
two battery boxes, which are
housed in a removable wire basket
sited below the wheelchair seat
(Fig. 38). The battery boxes consist
of a controlbox with a control panel
within a tall lid containing the
power socket, a three pin charging
socket and two cutout switches
of 15 and 70 amp. The boxes are
connected by a tandem connector
wired from each box lid. To remove
the boxes lift the basket with the
rear facing handle so releasing the
basket from retaining the hooks,
this enables the basket to slide out
sufficiently to allow the removal
of the battery boxes. Disconnect
the power plug from the control
box and the tandem connectors.
The battery boxes can now be
lifted out (Fig. 39). To remove the
basket completely slide it over the
retaining bars and allow the basket
side channels to clear the end of
the support rails. Lift and withdraw
basket.
Return the battery boxes to the
basket ensuring that the control
battery box panel faces backward,
connect the power plug and
tandem connectors to ready your
chair for use.
