c. Run the following script to deconfigure AP (and save the AP configuration so
that it can be restored later):
This script saves the current AP configuration information in the files
/var/tmp/ap*
. This script also generates executable shell scripts that you can
use to regenerate your AP configuration. You may examine the
/var/tmp/ap*
files if you wish, but do not modify or remove them. Doing so can compromise
the upgrade procedure.
d. If any file systems shown in
/etc/vfstab
are still configured as AP
metadevices, edit
/etc/vfstab
and reconfigure those file systems as physical
devices.
Caution –
You must be a knowledgeable system administrator to edit
/etc/vfstab. If you do not configure your file systems properly in /etc/vfstab, it is
possible that you will lose data the next time you boot the domain.
e. Remove the packages
SUNWapdoc
,
SUNWapr
,
SUNWapu
, and
SUNWabap
by using
the
pkgrm(1M)
command.
8. If you plan to upgrade to the Solaris 7 11/99 operating environment, perform that
upgrade now.
See the section “Performing an Upgrade” in the chapter “Solaris 7 11/99 on the Sun
Enterprise 10000 Server” in the Solaris 7 11/99 Sun Hardware Platform Guide.
Caution –
Wait until the Solaris upgrade process is completely finished before
continuing with this procedure.
Caution –
Make sure you upgrade the correct slice. If you were previously using a
volume manager to mirror the boot disk, and if you were also using AP to
alternately path each boot disk mirror, then there are four physical paths that were
previously potential paths to the boot disk (two alternate paths for each boot disk
mirror). Now that both AP and the volume manager have been deconfigured,
examine /etc/vfstab to determine the physical path that corresponds to the root (/)
file system. Make sure the OBP boot-device variable is set to that path. When you
run suninstall, specify that path as the disk to upgrade. Later, when you restore your
