To Upgrade To AP 2.2 and SDS 4.2
Caution –
Before proceeding with this procedure, read the release notes for AP as
well as the release notes for any volume managers you may be using. Also, read
through this entire procedure before proceeding.
1. If necessary, commit any uncommitted AP metadevices.
a. Log in to the server as superuser.
b. Commit the entries in the AP database:
2. Deconfigure Solstice DiskSuite (SDS) by following steps one through eight in
“How to Convert to DiskSuite 4.2 on SPARC Systems Running DiskSuite 4.0 or
4.1” in the Solstice DiskSuite 4.2 Installation and Product Notes (October 19, 1998).
3. Reboot.
This assures that the deconfigured disk volumes are no longer active.
4. Terminate any processes that directly or indirectly access AP metadevices.
You do not need to be concerned here about the fact that your boot disk or primary
network may be using AP metadevices. The
ap_upgrade_begin
script, which you
will run later in this procedure, and the subsequent reboot will cause the boot disk
and primary network to use physical paths rather than AP metadevices.
5. Remove the current AP configuration.
a. Log in as superuser.
b. Insert the Supplement CD into the CD-ROM drive.
The volume manager takes a few seconds to mount the CD.
# apdb -C
