Power Management on Sun
Hardware
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has launched the Energy Star Computers
program to encourage the introduction and use of energy-efficient computer systems
and to reduce air pollution associated with energy generation.
In response to this policy, Sun is providing Power Management™ software. In order
to reduce the amount of power your Sun workstation uses, your Sun workstation is
now capable of entering a lower power state when the display is inactive for a
period of time.
This section supplements the Using Power Management manual in the Solaris 7 11/99
User Collection.
Supported Platforms
Power Management software supports the sun4m and sun4u platform groups.
Software features and defaults may vary between the two platform groups. Refer to
Using Power Management in the Solaris 7 11/99 User AnswerBook set for more
information when you identify the platform group that applies to your system.
