Changing the fuel filter

WARNING

Consumables are toxic!
– Note safety regulations for working

with diesel fuel; see ⇒ Chapter "Die-

sel fuel", P. 2-48.

– Open the bonnet; see ⇒ Chapter "Opening

the bonnet", P. 5-317.

– Hold a suitable collection vessel beneath

the fuel filter (1).

– Unscrew the fuel filter (1)

ENVIRONMENT NOTE

•

Dispose of fuel filter and the diesel fuel in

accordance with applicable regulations.

NOTE

A second fuel filter (variant) may be installed.

Both filters must be replaced.

– Wet the sealing surface of the new fuel filter

with diesel fuel and tighten the filter by hand

– Start the engine, see ⇒ Chapter "Starting

the engine", P. 4-98.

– Check the fuel filter for leaks.
– Close the bonnet.
