The STEINEL soldering tool
is a multi-purpose unit,
independent from mains,
offering absolute portability.
Please note the following
points when using this tool:
y
Filling gas tank
– Hold the tool in a vertical
position and fill with refi-
ned butane gas. Press
aerosol can firmly into
tank. When the tank (L) is
full, gas flows out of the
valve.
y
Ignition
(see fig. 2/3/4)
– Turn upper adjustment
ring (H) to “ignition”
(flame symbol).
– Turn lower adjustment
ring (K) to between
“min–max”.
– Turn ON/OFF adjustment
ring (I) to “ON”, gas is
now emitted.
– Ignite the gas at the tip
with a naked flame
(e.g. lighter).
Important:
After ignition
turn air flow adjustment
ring as far as it will go to
the left, thus allowing air
to flow through.
y
Selecting working tem-
perature
(see fig. 5)
– By turning adjustment
ring for air flow (H) a hard
or soft flame can be obtai-
ned when working without
attachments. Maximum
performance can be ob-
tained by turning to left.
– Amount of gas can be de-
termined by turning lower
adjustment ring (K) to
between “min–max”.
– The required working
temperature of the solder-
ing tool is reached after
approx. 30 sec.
y
Select required applica-
tion
(see fig. 6/7)
– Either attach soldering tip
(B), hot air nozzle (C) or
simply use soldering tool
with open flame. To mount
attachments (soldering
tip, hot air nozzle) loosen
knurled nut, insert attach-
ment into mounting sup-
port (E), screw knurled
nut (F) back on.
y
Working with attach-
ments
(see fig. 6/7/8/9)
The operating ambient
temperature for the gas
tank is approx. + 10
h
C to
+ 35
h
C. Ignition problems
may occur above or
below these tempera-
tures.
– Once you have attached
the soldering tip (B) or hot
air nozzle (C) (see figs.
6/7), “ignite” the solder-
ing tool as follows (see
fig. 8).
– Turn gas adjustment ring
(K) to “min”.
– Turn air-flow adjustment
ring (H) as far as it will go
to the left.
– Turn ON/OFF adjustment
ring (I) to “ON”.
– Ignite tool at the ignition
vents (D) around the sol-
dering tip or hot air
nozzle. After a short peri-
od, the flame will extingu-
ish automatically and the
tool will continue operat-
ing in the catalyzer mode.
The catalyzer produces
an orange glow. The gas
burns without a flame in
the built-in catalyzer leav-
ing no residue. The flow of
gas can be increased as
required at the gas ad-
justment ring (K).
y
Turning off
– After use, turn ON/OFF
adjustment ring to “OFF”
and
gas adjustment ring
(K) to “max”.
Before at-
taching protection cap
and storing for future use,
allow soldering tool to
cool down.
7
Due to transport regulations
this set has to be sent with
empty tank and without a
lighter. Therefore before
using the tool for the first
time:
y
Set middle ring to “OFF”
position.
y
Fill tool with gas.
y
Wait about half an hour.
y
Usage as indicated in
instruction leaflet.
y
Due to security reason
(e.g. fire and risk of injury)
all repairs and any repla-
cement of parts exept
accessory nozzles must
only be executed by the
manufacturer.
Any repair
requires comprehensive
tests of function and
tightness, which can only
be performed by the
manufacturer.
