Important notices

When reporting any problems to your Radiodetection Dealer or Supplier it is
important to quote the unit serial number and the purchase date.

WARNING! This equipment is NOT approved for use in areas where

hazardous gases may be present.

WARNING! When using the transmitter, switch off the unit and

disconnect cables before removing the battery pack.

Batteries should be disposed of in accordance with your company’s work practice,
and/or any relevant laws or guidelines in your country.
This instrument, or family of instruments, will not be permanently damaged
by reasonable electrostatic discharge and has been tested in accordance with
IEC 801-2. However, in extreme cases temporary malfunction may occur. If this
happens, switch off, wait and switch on again. If the instrument still malfunctions,
disconnect the batteries for five seconds and then reinstall and switch the unit on.

WARNING! The RD5000 will detect almost all buried conductors but

there are some objects that do not radiate any detectable signal. The RD5000,
or any other electromagnetic locator, cannot detect these objects so proceed
with caution. The RD5000 does not indicate whether a signal is from a single
cable or from several in close proximity.

Batteries

General

Batteries should be disposed of in accordance with your company’s work practice,
and/or any relevant laws or guidelines in your country.
Never disassemble a battery or battery pack and never dispose of in a fire or in
water.
As with all radio transmitter devices, batteries should be disconnected to avoid
activation during transit. The RD5000WLT transmitter comes with a deactivation
fuse which should be removed for international shipment and potentially some
domestic transportation.
Do not mix partially discharged and fully charged cells in the same appliance. Do
NOT mix old cells with new ones.

Alkaline Batteries

When replacing alkaline batteries, use only the size and type specified. Never mix
rechargeable and alkaline batteries and never attempt to charge alkaline batteries.

Rechargeable Batteries

It is good practice to charge rechargeable batteries for their recommended charge
time before first use. If at any time the rechargeable batteries do not last as long
as expected, discharge them fully and then recharge for the recommended charge
time.
Only use the correct charging device supplied or specified by the manufacturer.
The battery pack or charger contains circuitry to manage the charging process.
Other chargers may not have the same control circuitry, potentially resulting in
damage to the product and, in some cases, fire or harm to the individual. Do not
assume that it must be the correct charger if the plug fits.
If the product becomes hot during the charging process, unplug the charger
immediately and use the rechargeable batteries for at least 10 minutes before
recharging. If this recurs the next time the unit is charged, contact Radiodetection
for advice.
International safety and shipping regulations regarding rechargeable batteries,
including Lithium-Ion batteries, are constantly under review. These may include,
but are not limited to, reasonable packaging strength, maximum quantities,
labelling requirements and export commodity code declaration. Please contact
Radiodetection before shipping batteries that contain Lithium, or products that
include such batteries, for any special instructions. Contact Radiodetection
or a professional safety advisor if you are unclear about any battery shipping
responsibilities.
It is currently prohibited to ship faulty Lithium-Ion batteries by any means.
Please contact our service department if you suspect an issue with the internal
transmitter rechargeable battery. Note that we may not be able to return faulty
batteries to you.
