Replacing a Bus Expansion Module
59
When the configuration is complete, the Controllers screen refreshes to show the
new QIP functioning in the old QIP’s location. The new QIP assumes the old QIP’s
configuration, so it can be used immediately.
Note:
It may be necessary to upgrade firmware on the QIP if firmware
level is down-revision. See the
Spectra T200 &T380 Library User
Guide
for detailed information about performing firmware
upgrades.
8.
Use your backup software to restart any backups that were running to drives
connected to the QIP you replaced.
9.
Package the malfunctioning QIP and ship it to Spectra Logic as described in
Chapter 10 – Returning Components
.
Replacing a Bus Expansion Module
Note:
The bus expansion module does not appear on the Controllers
screen. There is no shut-down process to perform on the library’s
user interface before removing the module.
Backups cannot be continued to the drives associated with the
malfunctioning bus expansion module. Removing the bus
expansion module interrupts the SCSI bus to which the drives are
connected.
Spectra Logic recommends shutting down and powering off the host computer before
replacing the bus expansion module.
Caution:
Improperly removing a device from a SCSI bus can cause a host
computer to crash. If you decide to leave the host running,
Spectra Logic is not responsible for any damage to data or
equipment.
