Chapter 8 SCSI Commands
8.12.3. Medium transport element descriptor
Table 8.12.3.1 indicates the contents of the Medium Transport Element
Descriptor.
Table 8.12.3.1 : Medium transport element descriptor
The Element Address field indicates the Address of the autoloader whose status
is returned by the element Descriptor Block.
An Exception (Except) bit of 1 indicates that the element is faulty. An Exception
bit of 0 indicates that the element is normal. When this bit is 1, the Additional
Sense Code showing the fault and the Additional Sense Code Qualifier byte are
set.
A Full bit of 1 indicates that there is a cartridge in the element. A bit of 0
indicates that there is no cartridge in the element.
The Additional Sense Code and Additional Sense Code Qualifier fields are the
same as the Additional Sense Code and Additional Sense Code Qualifier
defined in the REQUEST SENSE command.
A Source Valid (Svalid) bit of 1 indicates that the Source Storage Element
Address field and Invert bit information are valid. A bit of 0 indicates that the
values of these fields are invalid.
When the Invert bit is 1, it is possible to invert the cartridge in the element from
its condition in the Source Storage Element with the MOVE MEDIUM
command. Because the autoloader does not support this function, this is always
0.
The Source Storage Element Address field is the Address of the Storage
Element where the cartridge in the element was last present. Because the
autoloader Medium transport element does not have a cartridge storage
function, this is always 0.
