2-4. Precautions on Installation and
Removal of BKFD-7009/7009A
(HDD unit)
Be careful not to give any mechanical shock during
installation and removal of BKFD-7009/7009A.
Be careful not to give any mechanical shock especially
when it is operating.
Resource setup is necessary when BKFD-7009/7009A is
installed or increased. Refer to “5-4. Resource Setup
Using the Initial Setup Tool”.
2-4-1. For Maintain the Performance of
BKFD-7009A
For maintain the performance (the recording times of one
unit) of BKFD-7009A, the composition of the FARAD
system must BKFD-7009A only.
When installing of mixed BKFD-7009 and BKFD-7009A,
the FARAD system performs as well as BKFD-7009 only.
2-4-2. When BKFD-7009/7009A is Installed
When installing BKFD-7009/7009A to FDDR-7000
(Multi-channel digital disk recorder) or to BKFD-7800
(HDD extension box), note the followings:
1.
Determine the numbers of BKFD-7009/7009A (HDD
unit) to use by referring to the section “Channel
Configuration and Optional Components” of OPERA-
TION MANUAL of FDDR-7000 for the numbers of
channel to use and the recording time .
Maximum eight units of BKFD-7009/7009A can be
installed in an FDDR-7000. Maximum four units of
BKFD-7009/7009A can be installed in a BKFD-7800.
Maximum seventeen units of BKFD-7009/7009A can
be used in a FARAD system.
2.
Install BKFD-7009/7009A after installations (such as
racks, etc.,) of FDDR-7000 and BKFD-7800 are
completed.
3.
When installing BKFD-7009/7009A, install it into
FDDR-7000, then BKFD-7800 (connected EXT
HDD1 SCSI 1-4) and BKFD-7800 (connected EXT
HDD2 SCSI 1-4) in this order starting sequentially
from disk slot No. 1. (Install the BKFDs into the
vacant slots in turn without blank slots between them.)
When install BKFD-7009/7009A for the seventeenth
unit, install it into the disk slot No. 1 of BKFD-7800
for the third unit (Connected SCSI 1 to SCSI (AUX) of
FDDR-7000.).

4.
Start installation of BKFD-7009/7009A after the
FARAD system is shut down, and after FDDR-7000 and
BKFD-7800 (when connected) are turned off.
Then start up the system.(Refer to section “5-2. System
Startup and Shut Down”.)
5.
After the FARAD system has started, perform
operation software installation and resource setup
using the initial setup tool. (Refer to section “5-3.
Installation of Operation Software” and “5-4. Resource
Setup Using the Initial Setup Tool”.)
6.
The data record area of the HDDs in the FARAD
system is constructed during the initial setup of
resource of the FARAD system. Therefore, the
BKFD-7009/7009As cannot be exchanged with each
other once the FARAD system has already been
initialized.
