10.3 Wired Connection via Static IP Address
This is another common way to connect your 3Z Series printer to a network. Since the
3Z Series printer’s ship from the factory set to use DHCP, you will need to configure the
3Z Series printer to use a static IP address. You will need a standard Cat5e network cable and
an IP address and subnet mask to use. Your network administrator will provide you with the IP
address and subnet mask. See Figure 10-1
Insert one end of the network cable into the network connection port on the rear of the
3Z Series printer. The other end of the network cable should be inserted into an available port
on the network router.
To assign the IP address for your 3Z Series printer, follow the directions in the
“Assigning a Static IP Address to a 3Z Printer” section of this document. You will need the IP
address and subnet mask provided by your network administrator to perform this step.
Your 3Z Series printer is now connected to your network.
10.4 Wired Connection Peer to Peer
This is a less common way to connect your 3Z Series printer to a PC. Since the
3Z Series printer’s ship from the factory set to use DHCP, you will need to configure the 3Z
Series printer to use a static IP address. You will also need a crossover Cat5e network cable.
Insert one end of the network cable into the network connection port on the rear of the
3Z Series printer. The other end of the network cable should be inserted into the network port
on your PC.
