Chapter 3 – New Job Startup
Before a new job can be printed, the 3Z Base or (Build Plate) must be mounted on the printer
and a job file must be loaded. Figure 3-1 shows that there is a red X next to the 3Z Base icon
and also next to the job file icon indicating that these processes must be completed before a job
can be started. The red Intervention icon is also displayed.

3Z Base Setup
The system builds composite models by depositing build and support material on a removable
build plate. The build plate consists of a metal plate and a layer of 3ZBase foam that is
permanently attached. The metal plate has an alignment slot and an alignment hole along one
edge and mounting tabs on the two adjacent edges. The hole and slot ensure that the build
plate is properly aligned when it is installed in the system. The tabs provide a means for
securely anchoring the build plate. See Figure 3-2 Build plate
