5.12 Alphanumeric input
Alphanumeric entries can be made using the combined keyboard. Optionally, simplified input is possible with
the USB interface and the USB adapter cable for PC keyboard 2550.03.027 via a USB - PC keyboard.
Types of input fields
Display fields without write capability
Display/write fields with possibility of numerical input
Display/write fields with alphanumeric input option
Activation of input fields
Situation-dependent via function keys or direct number input. The Input view is activated. Existing values are
displayed.
The name of the input field is displayed in the toolbar. A dimension sign is displayed if the input refers to a
dimension.
Input procedure
Numeric Fields
The digits 0 to 9 can be entered directly using the numeric keypad.
The entry is right-justified. A cursor flashes below the last digit entered.
The C key deletes the digit marked with the cursor, the CL key or the Delete function key deletes the entire
entry. Cancel key terminates input without accepting new input values; existing values are retained. Press the
Accept key to accept the entered value and reactivate the application program.
The setting of whether a decimal point, a decimal point or no decimal point is to be used is made in the
Display/decimal point setting mode. The input field can only be filled up to the specified number of
characters, further entries are not displayed and are not accepted.
Alphanumeric fields
The digits 0 to 9 can be entered directly using the numeric keypad.
The entry is left-justified. The numeric keys are also assigned uppercase letters and special characters in
multiple assignments.
The special character keys (,./) and (+-) are also available.
If you press a number key again within one second after pressing it, the characters assigned to the key are
activated in a rolling fashion. If no further key is pressed within one second, the character called up is
accepted and the cursor moves one position forward.
Numeric entries can be made directly on top of each other without waiting as long as a digit is not called
several times in succession. A cursor flashes below the position to be entered.
The cursor can be moved with the arrow keys.
The C key deletes the last character to the left of the cursor or the character under which the cursor flashes,
the CL key deletes the entire input.
Cancel key terminates the input without accepting new input values, existing values are retained. Press the
Accept key to accept the entered value and reactivate the application program. The input field can only be
filled up to the specified number of characters, further entries overwrite the last character. All alphanumeric
entries can also be made using the optional external PC keyboard.
