Mechanical air gap check
To monitor wear and tear on the spring-loaded brake, you can find an opening on each
1FG1 servo geared motor to check the mechanical air gap.
CAUTION
Danger of injury from ejected particles
When opening the cover of the air gap check, loose particles can be ejected and cause
injury.
•
Switch the motor off before opening the cover.
•
Open the cover only when the motor is at a standstill.
•
Before switching the motor on again, close the cover of the air gap check.
With the mechanical air gap check, you can check the width of the air gap s of the spring-
loaded brake. The width of the air gap indicates the wear state of the armature disk. The
wider the air gap, the greater the wear on the armature disk.
