Manual brake release option 

To release the braking torque, you can order the servo geared motor with spring-loaded 

brake optionally with manual brake release.

Manual brake release is the manual opening of the spring-loaded brake using a removable 

handle called the manual release handle. The braking torque of the spring-operated brake is 

released. 

 

 

Note 
Permissibility of manual brake release 
Before use, check that manual brake release is permissible in your installation. 

 

 

WARNING 

Danger to life caused by unintended movements of the machine or installation  
You can release the braking effect of the spring-loaded brake with the mechanical manual 

brake release. Unintended movements of the machine or installation can result in death or 

serious injury. 

•

 

Mount the braking resistors so that unintended actuation of the manual release handle is 

not possible. 

•

 

Place the manual release handle in the vertical position to ensure the full effect of the 

brake. Remove the manual release handle. 

•

 

Mount the manual release handle first for releasing the spring-loaded brake. 

•

 

Make sure that the electrical installation or machinery cannot cause any damage when 

releasing the spring-loaded brake. 

•

 

If the manual release handle cannot be placed in the vertical positon, shut down the 

installation or machine immediately. 

•

 

Start the installation again only when proper functioning of the manual brake release is 

ensured. 

•

 

Disassemble the manual release handle during normal operation.
