No-load current I

This is the current (effective phase current) that is required for operating the motor under no-
load conditions at the rated speed without load torque. The no-load current defines the
motor magnetization in the base speed range (low speed at the start of field weakening).

This is the speed determined by mechanical factors. The maximum speed n

exceeded.

Motor damage when the maximum speed is exceeded
The maximum speed n
max
is the highest permissible operating speed and is stamped on the
rating plate. The motor can be damaged if you operate it at inadmissible speeds.
•
Make sure that the maximum permissible speed is not exceeded. Realize this by using a
suitable control system or by activating the speed monitoring function in the drive.
Maximum torque M
max
This is the torque that is briefly available for dynamic operations, for example, during
accelerating.
Maximum current I
max
This is the current (effective phase value) that is produced at the rated speed and maximum
torque.
S1 duty (continuous operation)
This is the operation with a constant load, the duration of which is sufficient for the motor to
go into a thermally steady state.
S6 duty (intermittent operation)
This is the operation that comprises a sequence of identical duty cycles; each of these duty
cycles comprises a time period with a constant motor load and a no-load time period. Unless
otherwise specified, the constant-load time period refers to a duty cycle of 10 minutes.
Example:
S6-25% = 2.5 minutes of load operation, 7.5 minutes of no-load operation
