Conventions
The terms "safety engineering" and "fail-safe engineering" are used synonymously in this
system description. The same applies to the terms "fail-safe" and "F-".
"Safety program" refers to the fail-safe portion of the user program and is used instead of
"fail-safe user program," "F-program," etc.
"
S7 Distributed Safety" and "S7 F System" in italics refer to the add-on packages for
"S7 Distributed Safety" and
"S7 F/FH Systems".
