Assembly requirements
- Proper installation is the responsibility of the manufacturer of the system / machine.
- Observe the data on the type plate (section 3.1)and the information in the wiring
diagrams (Fig. 6).
- Compare the data of the forced ventilation unit with the connection data. Prevent
overloading of the unit.
- Connecting leads must be suitable for the type of application and for the anticipated
currents and voltages (Project planning guide).
- As a result of the converter feed, high-frequency current and voltage harmonics in the
motor supply leads can cause electromagnetic interference to be emitted.
Use shielded power and signal lines.
Observe the EMC instructions of the converter manufacturer.
- Install a motor protective device for switching off all terminals in case of improper use
(e.g. blocking).
- The ends of the leads must not be stripped further than necessary, i.e. the insulation
must extend to the cable lug, terminal or wire-end sleeve.
- Match the size of the wire-end ferrules to the dimensions of the power cable.
- Connect the PE conductor.
- The inside of the plug must be kept clean and free from cable residues and moisture.
- Maintain minimum air gaps of 5.5 mm when attaching the inner connecting cables.
- Avoid protruding wire ends.
- Check the seals and sealing surfaces of plugs to ensure that the degree of protection is
maintained.
- The connecting leads are to be equipped with a strain relief device and devices which
protect against rotation and transverse forces, and must be prevented from kinking. The
plugs must not be subjected to continuous forces.
Pre-assembled cables from SIEMENS are recommended (not included in scope of delivery)
The protective function with a fitted temperature sensor is inadequate for high thermal loads,
e.g. overload with the motor at a standstill. Additional protective measures are to be provided
for such cases, e.g. a thermal overcurrent relay.
CAUTION
Warning of motor damage!
Connecting the motor directly to a three-phase power supply will destroy it.
Motors may only be driven with configured converters!
Ensure that the phase sequence is correct.
Encoder systems and temperature sensor contain electrostatically sensitive
components (ESD).
Do not touch the connections with your hands or tools which could be
electrostatically charged!
