Safety
6.1.1
Conditions for specified enclosure rating
To ensure compliance with the specified IP65 enclosure rating of the device during
operation, the following requirements must be met: If these requirements are not met,
the device does not fulfill any specified enclosure rating.

The cables plugged into the two electrical M12 connections must be screwed on
tightly.
•
Any electrical M12 connections (Ethernet connection) that are not being used
must be sealed with a tightly-fastened protective cap (as in the delivery condition).
•
The black cover (flap) on the rear of the device must be flush with the device and
screwed tight.
Lector621 ECO
•
The D-Sub male connector of the connecting cable must be tightly screwed to the
contacted female connector.
•
If an extension cable is used, a corresponding rubber seal (SICK accessory) must
be fitted between the two D-Sub plug connectors. The plug connectors must be
screwed together. You can find a suitable IP65 rubber seal online at:

The black cover (flap) on the rear of the device must be flush with the device and
screwed tight.
NOTICE
Operate the device with open black cover only for a short time for the following tasks
as required:
•
Type-dependent: inserting or removing the optional memory card
•
Temporary use of the USB interface as a service interface
During this time, protect the device against moisture and dust.
6.1.2
Note on the swivel connector
NOTE
The Lector621 ECO variant has no swivel connector.
NOTICE
Damage to the connector from over-rotation!
The swivel connector has two opposite end positions.

Do not rotate the connector from either of the two end positions by more than
180° in the opposite direction. Do not exceed the respective limit position.
■
Carry out the rotational movement slowly.
