Water spray, precipitation, dust on the contamination measurement feature
The device continuously measures the contamination on the optics cover. If the optics
cover becomes severely contaminated, the device switches all safety outputs to the OFF
state.
The sensors for the contamination measurement feature are located on the base of
the optics cover. When the sensors are obscured, the device detects the contamination
even if the optics cover is clean.
Remedial measures:
b
Avoid the creation of water spray in the vicinity of the device, for example by
keeping other vehicles at a distance.
b
Mount the device with the optics cover facing downward.
b
Use a weather hood.
b
Mount the device in a protected area of the vehicle or machine.
b
Clean the optics cover using airWiper.

contaminants on the contamination measurement feature

Contamination or water collects on the base of the optics cover and triggers the contami‐
nation measurement feature
When using other suitable measures, the device can be mounted with the optics cover
facing upwards.
Fog or particles in the protective field
NOTICE
Fog with a visual range of less than 50 m (MOR, Meteorological Optical Range) can
affect the safety laser scanner.
b
In case of heavy fog, use a protective field with the following parameters:
°
Length ≤ 2 m
°
Width ≥ 1.5 m
°
Object resolution = 50 mm
