Carrying out the Survey
6
Getting Started
6.1
The following information need to be clear before starting a survey:
·
Which area will be surveyed? This area needs to be marked clearly.
·
Does the survey area contain objects which might influence the survey e.g. railway tracks,
fences, wells? According to these conditions, the mode of the device needs to be selected.
·
Which objects are to be located? The measurement range has to be selected based on this
decision. The smaller and the deeper the objects are which you want to detect, the higher is the
required sensitivity .
Get rid of all metallic objects you carry with you and be sure the clothes (shoes) you wear have no
significant magnetic signature.
Area Surveys
6.2
·
Step 1
: Determine the field which is to be surveyed and mark it clearly.
It is helpful to divide the survey field in single survey swathes. The exact width of the swath is
determined by the type and size of objects you are looking for. The smaller the objects, the
narrower the swath should be. The survey is even easier if you mark your swath with (non-
magnetic) guidance like ropes or a pole.
·
Step 2
: Adjust the operating mode according to your survey conditions:
- Mode 1 for all fields and objects
