c. POSSIBLE CAUSE: There is by-passing of the Feed Water into the Product Water due to a broken or worn
Product Water O-ring, a crack or imperfection in the High Pressure Vessel End Plug, or the R.O. Membrane
Element is damaged. Depending on the amount of by-pass the pressure gauges may read normal or may read
lower than normal.

1) Check the condition of the two Product Water O-Rings located inside each of the two High Pressure
Vessel End Plugs. Replace the O-rings if worn, flattened, or broken.
2) Check the High Pressure Vessel End Plugs for any signs of a crack between the Product Port and the
High Pressure Port. Replace the End Plug if cracked.
3) Check the High Pressure Vessel End Plugs for any signs of irregular machining of the Product Water O-
ring grooves. Replace the end plug if the machined surface at the Product Water O-ring groove shows
signs of irregularities or imperfections.
4) Check the Product Water Tube ends of the R.O. Membrane Element. Look for imperfections where the
Product Water O-ring rests on the tube ends. Look for signs of cracks on the Product Water Tube
ends. Replace the R.O. Membrane Element if imperfections or cracks are present. Note: If the
Product Water Tube is cracked or broken at either end of the R.O. Membrane Element this is caused
by excessive pressure due to a blockage in the Product Water Line.
