If the purge mode is disabled (red LED is off) the valve is switched that way that the mobile
phase does not pass the reference chamber of the flow cell. The mobile phase comes from
the column and enters the optical system through the INLET port and a heat exchanger to
ensure that the measurement is performed at constant temperatures as the refractive index
is highly dependent on the temperature. The temperature for the optical bench can be
selected in the range from 35 °C to 55 °C.
After passing the heat exchanger the mobile phase reaches the sample chamber of the flow
cell. Leaving the flow cell the mobile phase flow again passes the heat exchanger going
towards a T-connector which is connected with the purge valve. After passing the valve the
liquid leaves the detector passing the OUTLET port.
