7.8. Changing Display Units

The Power Display Panel can display the optical power in either mW or dBm. The display is

toggled by pressing the mW / dBm Selector Key.

7.7.3

Attenuation Setting

The optical output power can also be adjusted by setting the attenuation directly according to the

procedure below. Note that when the APC control is switched off, to enable manual attenuation

setting, the attenuator will remain at its current value to ensure the output power does not

suddenly change.

1. Check that the Wavelength / Power Indicator LED is indicating Power. If not, press the

Wavelength Power Selector Key to toggle from the Wavelength setting. The current

setting for the attenuator will be displayed in the Power Display Panel.

2. Enter the required value in units of dB using either the Numeric Keypad or the Up / Down

Arrow keys. The value entered must be in the range 0 to 20dB and has three decimal

places. To cancel the input press the Attenuation / Wavelength Selector Key and the

display will return to its currently set value.

3. Press the enter (ENT) key to save the displayed value to memory and set the Attenuation.
