The SALEWA MTN Spike is built to provide traction on any icy surface.
Fastening and Removing:
Always put on and remove the SALEWA Mtn Spike while seated. To fasten the SALEWA Mtn Spike,

place the tip of your boot into the front section of the crampon and adjust, so the toe guide wire

is sitting in front of the shoe, not on top or underneath the shoe.
The spikes must sit untangled and positioned well along the outer edge of your footwear under-

neath the ball of the foot. Pull the rubber back-tab toward the heel, and cover your footwear with

the rubber evenly positioned around the sides of your shoe.
Pass the rip and stick strap under and over the apposite side of the rubber to prevent slippage of

the crampon. Place one foot at a time to ensure balance, and start walking on a flat surface to

test that it is fitting well. lf the chains or rubber are loose, you may need to considera smaller size

for a tighter fit.
To remove the product, slide the back-tab off of the heel of the shoe, and slip the front of the foot

out of the front section of the crampon .
The SALEWA Mtn Spike is designed for autumn/winter speed hiking and running and is not made

for technical climbing. These are not mountaineering crampons .
Avoid using the SALEWA Mtn Spike on stairs, rocks, or river crossings. Use Mtn Spike in winter

snow and ice conditions. Use the SALEWA Mtn Spike with regular outdoor footwear, such as

runners, hiking boots and insulated boots.
Acceptable Usage Temperature: +37°C to -55°C

C SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Before each use, check over the product to ensure there is no damage, such as chains splitting

open or tears in the rubber. lf damage is found, discontinue use to prevent further damage and

potential injury.
Test product before each use for proper fit. Check positioning of front and rear spikes on the

outer sole of your footwear. AII spikes must fit within the outer edge of your footwear when fitted

properly.
High temperatures, sharp edges, and contact with chemicals (for example acids) must be

completely avoided.
If there is the least doubt about the safety of the product, it is to be replaced immediately.

D LIFESPAN

The lifespan of the product is dependent on a number of factors, such as the manner and

frequency of use, UV exposure, moisture, ice, affects of weather, storage conditions, and dirt

(sand, salt, etc.). Under extreme conditions the lifespan can be reduced to a single usage

or even less, if the equipment has suffered damage (for example during transport) before ever

being used. Please note: Products manufactured from synthetic fibres are subject to ageing even

when not used. This ageing depends mainly on environmental conditions as well as the impact

of UV light.

E CLEANING, STORAGE, TRANSPORT AND SERVICING

Transport crampons using a sturdy bag so as to protect the spikes from damaging personal

belongings. Always position the spikes away from the body when transporting them.
After each use, clean thoroughly with fresh water, dry with a clean cloth and store in a cool, dry

place. To prevent rust, apply a thin coat of oil on the carbon steel plates, hinges and spikes by

simply wiping once with a cloth soaked with some oil.
Do not store close to sources of heat, or at extreme temperatures or subject to mechanical force
