Please read the instructions carefully to ensure accurate temperatures and safe operation.
When used properly, this high quality product will give you years of accurate, dependable
service.

SAFETY INFORMATION:

q

High, prolonged fever requires medical

attention especially for young children. Please
contact your physician.

q

Do not allow children to take their

temperatures unattended.

q

Read the enclosed instructions carefully to ensure accurate temperature readings. Temperature

readings are affected by many factors including exercise, drinking hot or cold beverages prior to taking
a reading as well as technique.

q

Do not allow children to walk or run during temperature taking. The probe could present a

hazard.

q

Oral, underarm, and rectal temperatures vary by approximately 0.9°F/0.5°C.

WHAT IS A “NORMAL” TEMPERATURE?:

Temperature readings vary in different individuals. A normal temperature refers to each individual’s
average temperature while they are well. Normal average temperatures range from 97°F/36.1°C to
100°F/37.7°C when taken orally. See “RECTAL USE” and “UNDERARM (AXILLARY) USE” for the oral
equivalent of a rectal or underarm reading.

HOW TO TAKE TEMPERATURE:

1

Select oral, underarm or rectal as your measurement site based on the individual requiring a

temperature measurement. If you wish to use a thermometer cover, please follow usage instructions
on page i.

2

Push the on-off button located beside the display window. The display will read: “188.8°F

M

This is a function check indicating the unit is working properly.

If you choose to recall the last measured temperature, hold the on-off button down for two seconds,
and the last temperature will be displayed on the screen for two seconds. The thermometer will
read -- - °F (or -- - °C) and begin measuring temperature when exposed to body heat.

3

The °F (or °C) symbol will continuously flash until completion of the temperature taking process.

Please note that the “t” indicates a low battery. An “ERR” message in the window indicates your unit
is not functioning properly. Do not expect an accurate temperature reading if this low battery
indicator is present. Out-of-range indicator displays “L” when measurement is lower than 90.0°F
and “H” when higher than 109.9°F.

4

When peak temperature is reached, the °F (or °C) symbol will stop flashing.

5

Read and record the temperature and time for reference. The reading will automatically be

stored in the memory.

6

Push the on-off button to turn the unit off. If you do not turn the unit off, it will shut off

automatically in approximately 10 minutes.

To avoid damage to flexible
tip do not bend beyond 45°
angle as shown.
