WARNING
Avoid injury! Engine exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide and can cause serious illness or death.
Do not run an engine in an enclosed area, such as a garage, even with doors and windows open.
Move the machine to an outside area before starting the engine.

IMPORTANT
During cleaning and maintenance work, always close the fuel tap and the ventilation valve (1) A (only on models
with additional tank), do not place the engine and/or mower on its side, tilt it forwards instead O (spark plug facing
upwards) as otherwise start-up difficulties could occur. Secure the mower in its raised position!

ATTENTION
When tilting or placing the mower on its side, ensure that no oil or fuel comes out of the machine. Fire hazard!
The regular implementation of the prescribed maintenance and care work are the prerequisite for a permanent and fault-free
functionality of the motor and also the basic requirement for any guarantee claims.
The motor should be kept clean, particularly on the outside, and the silencer and cylinder area must always be kept free from
foreign bodies (e.g. grass residue). The exhaust and motor reach very high temperatures when in use. Flammable foreign
bodies such as foliage, grass etc. may catch fire.
Perfect cooling can also only ensured when cylinder ribs are always clean.
IMPORTANT
Never use a pressure cleaner or ordinary water jet to clean the motor. Damages or expensive repairs can be the
consequence of such action.

The first oil change of a new engine is necessary after 5 operating hours, and thereafter every 50 hours of operation or at
least once per mowing season.
– Before the engine or whole device is tipped to drain the oil off, empty the petrol tank and allow the engine to run until it
stops due to lack of fuel.
– Switch off the engine and disconnect the spark plug cable.
– Change the oil with the engine still warm.
– To change the oil, remove the dipstick from the filler and lay the mower on its side so that the used oil drains into the
catch tray.
Old oil should be disposed off in accordance with the relevant local regulations and on no account be
discharged into the sewerage system or into the ground.
– Turn the mower upright and pour high quality oil (for quantity and type, see technical data) into the filler. Screw on
dipstick and check oil (see Chapter

– Screw on the oil filter hand-tight, until the seal makes contact with the oil filter adapter. Then tighten further by approx.
1/2 to 3/4 of a turn.
– Add high quality oil (for quantity and type, see technical data) into the filler.
– Insert the dipstick and check oil (see illustration
Y1
)!
– Start the engine and allow to idle. Check for oil leakage and, if necessary, tighten the filter further.

Do not dispose of the oil filter as normal household waste. Dispose of it at a public collection point or authorised
specialist workshop.
