OPERATION

WARNING:

Do not allow familiarity with this product to make you 
careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second 
is sufficient to inflict serious injury.

WARNING:

Always remove battery pack from the tool when you are 
assembling parts, making adjustments, cleaning, or when 
not in use. Removing battery pack will prevent accidental 
starting that could cause serious personal injury.

WARNING:

Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to 
comply with ANSI Z87.1, along with hearing protection. 
Failure to do so could result in objects being thrown into 
your eyes and other possible serious injuries.

WARNING:

Do not use any attachments or accessories not recom-
mended by the manufacturer of this product. The use of 
attachments or accessories not recommended can result 
in serious personal injury.

APPLICATIONS

You may use this product for the purpose listed below:

  Grinding metals

  Cutting metals such as sheet steel, pipe, steel rods, 

aluminum, brass, and copper

WARNING:

Battery products are always in operating condition. 
Therefore, the switch should always in the OFF position 
when not in use or carrying at your side.

INSTALLING/REMOVING BATTERY PACK

See Figure 5, page 13.

To install:

 

Insert the battery pack.

 

Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack 
snap in place and that battery pack is secured in the 
product before beginning operation.

To remove:

  Depress the latches on each side of the battery pack.

ON/OFF SWITCH

See Figure 6, page 13.

To turn the tool ON:

 

Install the battery pack.

 

Hold the tool in front and away from you, keeping the 
wheel clear of the workpiece.

 

Depress the back of the on/off switch and push it forward 
to the ON position.

To turn the tool OFF:

 

Release the on/off switch and let it slide back into the 
OFF position.

To lock the tool ON:

The tool is equipped with a lock-on feature which is 
convenient for continuous grinding or cutting for extended 
periods of time.

 

Install the battery pack.

 

Hold the tool in front and away from you, keeping the 
wheel clear of the workpiece.

 

Depress the back of the on/off switch and push it forward 
to the ON position.

 

Push the front of the on/off switch down to lock the tool 
in the ON position.

 

To release the lock-on, press the back of the on/off switch 
and let it slide back into the OFF position.

POSITIONING THE WHEEL GUARD

See Figures 7 - 11, page 13.

NOTE: 

The cutting wheel guard and grinding wheel guard 

position the same way.
The wheel guard on the tool should be correctly positioned 
depending on which location the side handle is mounted 
and depending on what type of operation you are performing 
(cutting or grinding). Never use the tool without a wheel guard 
correctly in place or when the index arrows are aligned.

WARNING:

Never place the wheel guard so that it is in front of the 
tool. This could result in serious injury because sparks 
and loose particles thrown from the grinding or cutting 
wheel would be directed toward the operator. Always 
place the wheel guard in the correct location as shown.

To adjust the wheel guard:

  Remove the battery pack.



  Depress lever and rotate the guard to its correct position 

as shown.

 

NOTE: 

Be sure the raised ridge on the guard is seated in 

the groove on the bearing cap. Never use the tool without 
a guard in place and properly adjusted.
