BEFORE STARTING THE TOOL
Before starting-up the tool, ensure that:
- the packaging is complete and does not show signs of having been
damaged during storage or transport;
- the power supply conforms with the characteristics of the tool;
- the power supply cable and plug are in perfect condition;
- all the parts of the tool have been assembled in the proper manner and that
there are no signs of damage;
- the ventilation slots are not obstructed.
FITTING/REPLACING ABRASIVE WHEELS OR CUTTERS
AR11S - AR52ES:
- Insert the stem of the wheel or cutter in the collet seating (5);
- keep the collet spindle (4) still using the wrench (7) supplied and tighten
lock-nut (6);
- check that the tool does not rotate off-centre.
When the need arises to use tools having a spindle diameter of Ø 3 mm, fit the
reduction collet supplied as accessory.
To fit the reduction collet:
- unscrew nut (6);
- insert the reduction collet;
- re-tighten the nut (6) then follow the normal tool fitting procedure.
AR38S - AR38ES:
- Fit pliers (Part. No. 921.131 or 922.131) into the out (Part No. 513.131) and
make sure that they are housed in their seal;
- fit the milling cutter into the pliers, paying attention to the stem diameter
which shall be equal to the pliers hole;

it is recommended to assemble the collet together with the nut (6). Then
insert the cutter.
- tighten the nut, the pliers and milling cutter on the pliers-holding shall (Part
No. 515.31).
When the need arises to use tools having a spindle diameter of Ø 3 mm or Ø
6,35 mm, replace the collet supplied with the spare collet having the necessary
seat diameter.
To make the replacement:
- unscrew the nut (6);
- substituite the collet;
- re-tighten the nut (6) then follow the normal tool fitting procedure (see fitting

tool for a period of one minute with the maximum number of revolutions,
taking care to keep away and also to prevent other persons present from
approaching the tool holder or accessory in rotation. In most cases, the
damaged accessories or tool holders break during this trial period.
Wear protective clothing. Depending on the application in progress, use a
face shield, mask, eye protection or safety goggles. If necessary, wear
dust masks, hearing protection, protective gloves or special overalls to
protect yourself from small abrasive parts or material. Your eyes must be
protected from foreign bodies thrust into the air during the different
applications. The dust mask and breathing mask must be able to filter the dust
produced during the application. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise
leads to the danger of losing your hearing.
Pay attention that other people are respecting the safety distances from
the work area. Anyone entering the work area must wear personal
protection equipment. Fragments of the workpiece or broken tools may be
launched and cause injury even to those outside the immediate operating area.
Keep the device only for isolated surfaces of the the handle were work is
performed during which the accessory may come into contact with hidden
cables or with its own power cable. Contact with a live wire can also energize
the metal parts of the device, causing electrical shock.
When turning on, always keep well the electrical tool in hand. The reaction
torque time of the motor and its accessories may cause the twisting of the tool
itself.
Use clamps to secure the work piece. Under no circumstances should you
hold the work piece with one hand and the electrical tool with the other
hand, while it is being used. By securing the work piece with clamps, you can
have both hands free to better operate the electrical tool. During the cutting of
small pieces, material in rods or tubes, they tend to spin and there is a risk that
the tool gets jammed and is launched in the direction of the operator.
Always keep the electric connection cable away from the tool holder or
accessories in rotation. If you lose control of the power tool, there is a risk of
cutting or hitting the electric connection cable and your hand or arm could
touch the tool holder or accessory in rotation.
Do not place the power tool before the tool holder or accessory has come
to a complete stop. The tool in rotation can come into contact with the
supporting surface, causing you to lose control of the electric tool.
After each replacement of insert tools or after maintenance operations on
the electric tool, check that the nut of the clamping collet and other
fastening parts are tight. Fastening elements that are not tightened can move
unexpectedly and lead to loss of control; components that are not tightened
can be thrown violently.
Never carry the electric tool it is still in operation. Through accidental
contact with the tool in rotation, it could grip onto clothing or the hair of the the
operator and could come to seriously injure the operator's body.
Regularly clean the fan slots of the electrical tool provided. The motor fan
draws dust into the casing and a comprehensive collection of metal dust
may cause electrical hazards.
Never use the electric tool in the vicinity of materials flammable. Sparks
could ignite these materials.
Do not use accessories that require liquid coolants. The use of water or
other coolants can cause an electric shock.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY WARNINGS FOR GRINDING AND ABRASIVE
CUTTING OPERATIONS
Use only the type of cutting/grinding wheels recommended for your tool
and the protection specifically designed for the selected cutting/grinding
wheel. Cutting/grinding wheels not designed to be used with the tool cannot
be adequately protected and are unsafe.
The protection must be solidly fixed to the tool and placed in the safest
position possible so as to minimise the potential risk of contact between
the operator and cutting/grinding wheel. The protection is designed to
protect operators from the ejection of fragments in case of breakage and from
accidental contacts with the grinding wheel.
Cutting/grinding wheels must be used for the recommended applications
only. For example do not use the cutting side of the wheel for grinding
operations. Abrasive cutting wheels may break because they are designed to
be used for peripheral grinding operations and for the application of lateral
forces.
Always use the cutting/grinding wheels with undamaged flanges and
verify that their shape and dimensions are appropriate for the selected
cutting/grinding wheel. The purpose of flanges is to support the cutting/
grinding wheel and reduce the potential risk of breakage. Flanges forcutting
wheels may be different from those of grinding wheels.
Do not use grinding/cutting wheels that have been fitted on larger tools.
These cutting/grinding wheels are unsuitable because of their higher speed as
compared to that of smaller tools and could therefore cause explosions
FURTHER HAZARD WARNINGS
Avoid having dust accumulated on the work station. The dust can easily
ignite.
A work piece can be safely locked in position only using an appropriate
tightening device or a screw clamp and not just holding it with your hand.
Adjust the protective earmuffs so as to impede a trail of sparks in the
direction of the operator. Do not touch the rough and cut grinding wheels
before they are cooled. Activate the locking key of the spindle only when the
spindle is stopped. Otherwise, the electrical tool may suffer damages.
