4.6 Modem Port
The RX1000 series of products can optionally be equipped with a V.90 Modem
connection for PPP connections. The modem port can be populated in Slot 2
(bottom) as shown in Figure 30. The modem card is equipped with a standard RJ11
telephone receptacle, with the pin configuration shown in Figure 29 and whose pin
assignment is listed in Table 10. The user should make note of receptacle orientation
to ensure proper connection with cable.

The Ringer Equivalence Number is an indication of the maximum number of devices allowed to be
connected to a telephone interface. The termination on an interface may consist of any combination of
devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the RENs of all the devices does not exceed five.
