FLEX- AUGER - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
III- 9
GUIDELINES FOR DESIGNING THE FLEX AUGER
1. If possible, install the feed bin in line with the feeding troughs.
Avoid using left hand elbows : the feed does not protect such
elbows against wear.
FIGURE 5.
2. Provide adequate size electrical wiring to carry power to the motors.
Preferably use 3-phase motors :
- they are more trouble-free
- they are more economical
3. DO NOT install outlets on or right before an elbow. Always put the outlet behind the elbow.
If not possible, make sure that part of the feed bypasses. This will make your system run smoother.
4. The use of an extension boot : see graphs page III-18 up to III-22.
In certain cases you can do without an extra elbow in the system. Install the extension boot under 90
_
on
the transport system For certain applications you can turn the extension boot 180
_
Use an extension boot if the Flex-Auger 125 with tandem is longer than 10m. : see graph page III-10. This
will prevent the last part of the line from running empty for long periods.
Install the extension boot such that no outlets are needed until behind the first elbow.
The longest part of the line (the one with the most outlets) must follow the extension boot. So you install the
extension boot just before the middle of the total length of the line.
Always install the extension boot before the elbow if any. So you avoid wearing out of the elbow.
5. The TANDEM SYSTEM is the straight-line connection between two feed bins. It allows to supply two dif-
ferent kinds of feed or to double your storage capacity using only one Flex-Auger.
Consider the following before you install a tandem system :
- Tandem and transport system augers run in the same centerline.
-
NEVER INSTALL AN ELBOW BETWEEN 2 BINS.
- Make one flat concrete foundation for both bins. For dimensions ask the bin manufacturer.
- Install the feed bins at the minimum distance.
- To avoid wear of the second boot, the Flex-Auger must come at least 1,5 m horizontally past the second boot.
