FA ROTEX HeatPumpSolarUnit - Part 2 - 05/2009

8.2

Malfunctions

Malfunction

Possible cause

Possible solution

System not working (Opera-
tion LED off, nothing on the
display)

No mains voltage

• Switch main switch of system on.
• Switch on system fuse(s).
• Replace system fuse(s).

Program clock is not working
or programmed switching
times have been carried out
at the wrong time.

Time or weekday have not been set correctly.

• Set the clock
• Set the weekday

Program clock is deactivated.

• Activate program clock.

During a switching time the user made a manual set-
ting (e.g. changed the target temperature, changed the
operating mode)

• Deactivate program clock and activate it again.
• Select correct operating mode.

Heating does not warm up

Room heating Standby switched off (e.g. time program
is in the economy phase, outside temperature is too
high. parameters for Backup Heater (BH) are set incor-
rectly, requirement for hot water is active)

• Check the operating mode setting.
• Check the request parameters.
• Check the setting of time a weekday in the control system

Refrigerant compressor is not working.

• Check that the Backup Heater (BH) is heating the water temper-

ature to at least 15 °C (with a low water temperature, the
system uses the  Backup Heater (BH) first to attain the minimum
water temperature). If applicable, check the power supply,
thermal protection and overheating fuse for the Backup Heater
(BH).

• Have the system checked by a service engineer.

System is in the operating mode "Room cooling

1)

".

• Reset operating mode to "Room heating".

Heating does not warm up
enough

Water flow too low.

• Check that all stop valves of the water circuit are completely

open.

• Check that the water filter is dirty.
• Check that the expansion tank is defective.
• Bleed system completely.
• Check on pressure gauge whether there is sufficient water

pressure >0.3 bar.

• Check if the pump speed is set to the highest level.
• Check that the resistance in the water circuit is not too high for

the pump (see Chapter

5.1.5  "Starting up a ROTEX HeatPump-

SolarUnit").

Target value range is too low.

• Increase parameter value [9-00].

Weather-dependent target value regulation active.

• Check settings of the operating mode "Weather-dependent

target value regulation".

Backup Heater (BH) not switched on as well.

• Check mains supply of the Backup Heater (BH).
• Thermal protection switch of the Backup Heater(BH) has been

triggered (see Chapter

2.2.1  "Indoor Module (RKHB)", item 20).

• Overheating fuse for the Backup Heater (BH) is defective (see

Chapter

2.2.1  "Indoor Module (RKHB)", item 21).

• Check parameter values [4-XX].

Heating does not warm up
enough

Water heating is taking too much of the output of the
heat pump.

• Check parameter settings [5-XX]:
– Increase "Bivalence temperature" [5-01] to activate operation of

the Backup Heater (BH) at a higher outside temperature.

– "Status Priority room heating" [5-02] must be activated.
– Increase "Priority temperature of the room heating" [5-03] to

activate operation of the additional heating at a higher outside
temperature.
