Fiber Ethernet Switch Transceivers User Manual (Iss. 04)
FET-6946 Overview
The FET-6946 series includes a dual fiber SFP, three copper (RJ45) ethernet ports, and two
bi-directional SFP transceivers. The bi-directional SFP transceiver operates on different transmit
(Tx) and receive (Rx) wavelengths over a single fiber and contain an internal WDM splitter. This
gives you six links (three fiber and three RJ-45) plus the Internal Link interface. The FET-6946

To make use of the triple fiber bi-directional connection, the cards must be used together in pairs
based on their WDM, ensuring to pair an -A model with a -B model (e.g. pair an FET-6946-20A
with an FET-6946-20B). Refer to
for details. Alternatively, you could use one
FET-6946 series card connected to a combination of FED-6943 and FES-6941 series cards of the
same WDM. The dual fiber port connection can also connect to a dual fiber connection on a
FES-6942 or FED-6944 card or a generic switch provided that the power levels match.
