Chapter 4
Commissioning
10.
If necessary, purge air at heat exchanger by opening heat exchanger vent
valves with pump on or slightly opening the top most flange of the heat
exchangerwith pump on.
11.
Stop pump 2.
12.
Close V10 and open V1 (if provided).
13.
Open vent plug on Pump 1. Open carefully to prevent excess coolant
leakage. Close vent plug.
14.
Run Pump 1 for several minutes.
15.
Place pump selector switch to Auto.
Normal Operation
1.
Open valves V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V8, V11, V12, V13, and V14.
2.
Close valves V6, V7, and V10.
Gating Tests
Once the drive converters have been tested without Medium Voltage and all the
power supply output values have been verified, it is necessary to test the SCRs
and SGCTs under low voltage control power.
The following procedures will describe how to perform the next level of device
testing:
•
Gating Test Mode
•
SCR Firing Test
•
SGCT Firing Test
If the results of the tests are not as described in the section below, refer to
Component Definition and Maintenance on page 265 (Chapter 5)
, for detailed
information on how to troubleshoot problems in the converter section of the
drive.
Gating Test Mode
The following procedure explains how to enter gating test mode. This feature will
simulate drive operation by applying gate signals to the SCRs and SGCTs while
isolated from medium voltage. Prior to starting the drive for the first time, a
gating test should be performed to ensure that each device is functional.
Some drive status I/O will be active while performing tests in Gating Test Mode.
If the drive I/O is monitored remotely, process control should be notified in
advance to avoid confusion.
