Alde Coolant
The Alde system uses a VW G13 specification anti-freeze. The anti-freeze bottle is under the sink in the bathroom. To check
the level of antifreeze, remove the protective cover under the bathroom sink and visually check the level in the bottle. If the
level is low, add the specified antifreeze to the bottle. Run the system and check periodically. It may take several hours of
operation for all the air bubbles to work themselves out of the system.
The anti-freeze level should be checked before and after storage or at least twice a year, and the system should be flushed
and anti-freeze replaced every 2 years.
Alde Frost Protection Mode
The Alde system will protect itself from frost damage by dumping the water in its tank onto the ground beneath your vehicle
if the temperature approaches freezing. This protects the Alde plumbing only; you still need to winterize the remaining water
system in your Roadtrek to prevent damage to the water lines and other components. You can also drain the system
manually by turning the valve to the tripped position. The frost control valve will activate when the temperature gets near
freezing even if the system has been winterized with RV antifreeze. Follow the winterization instructions in this manual.
If your Alde system has dumped, you need to reset the frost control valve before using the water system again. Lift the cover
on the floor just inside the rear doors, open the compartment, and look for the access hole on the left side of the metal Alde
enclosure. Reach down into the access hole and turn the valve 90 degrees from its tripped position pointing toward the valve
in the blue water line to a position parallel to the blue line, and press the blue button at the base of the frost control valve on
the side opposite the blue line. The Alde unit will now function normally, provided that the air temperature around the valve is
high enough.
