Batteries
open them. There is no user maintenance possible on these batteries except to keep them charged.
Roadtrek places some of the coach batteries under the hood, but the actual chassis battery that powers the engine, starter,
headlights, etc. is under the driver's floor. Mercedes has created jumper cable points under the hood in case you have to
jump your battery to get your engine started. Use these. They will start your engine - jumping the coach batteries won't, and
will probably damage the inverter and other sensitive electronic components in your Roadtrek.
amperage 12 volt power supply to a 6 volt battery is very dangerous. Use the Mercedes jumper attachment points
instead.
To use jumper cables, attach to the attachment points provided by Mercedes, according to the owner's manual. There is a
brass stud immediately above these coach batteries on the driver's side engine compartment wall where the negative jumper
cable goes. The positive jumper cable goes on another stud behind the red disc on the driver's side of the engine on RS
Adventurous models. See photos below.
