Back Up

The built-in tape drive enables data fi le backup easily without connecting new devices.

We recommend regular data fi le backup to prevent data fi le damages caused by unexpected

incidents such as hard disk damage or power failure etc.

When backing up data onto tape cartridges, use one of the data cartridge models indicated

on the label affi xed to the front of the KL-04.

Important

Before using a tape for the fi rst time or when reusing a tape,
perform “Retension the Tape” on the “KL-04 - Backup/Re-
store” window shown on the next page.

Data backup will not be successful if other tape cartridge
models are used.
The tape cartridge models indicated on the label include TR-4
(e.g. the Travan 8 GB data cartridge from Imation Corpora-
tion) and TR-5 (e.g. the Travan 20 GB data cartridge from
Imation Corporation). Specify one of these models when
purchasing tape cartridges.

Be sure to use a separate tape cartridge for each KL-04 unit.
If you restore backup data from a tape made in one KL-04 in
another KL-04, data mismatching and other problems may
occur. We recommend to write the serial number of the
KL-04 unit onto the tape cartridge to prevent mixups.

When the KL-04 version was upgraded from 1.0 to 2.0, do
not restore any backups that was taken in version 1.0 and
comprise system data. Otherwise the version may revert to
1.0. You can check the KL-04 version on the “KL-04 - Start
New Window” window by clicking the “System Information”
button (see page 36).

Backup

1.  An  operator  with  access  privileges  to  “Backup/Restore”  must  log  in  and  then

display the “KL-04 - Start New Window” window.

Note

See page 34 for the login method and see page 36 for the “KL-04
- Start New Window” window display method.

Use

denotes the tape cartridge model.

Tape Cartridge.
