2.5 : Required Equipment
After the card has been configured with PMC/XMC and MiniPCIe options, it is ready to be installed into
a 6U OpenVPX compliant chassis.
The following items are required to successfully install the VP3500.
• ESD wrist strap
• A standard 6U VPX backplane/chassis (air or conduction-cooled)
• A Single Board Computer
• Disk drive, Ethernet cables and/or other IO for booting SBC (optional)
• Operating system
• A VP3500
2.6 : VP3500 Installation and Removal
1. Attach an ESD wrist strap to your wrist and securely attach the other end to chassis ground.
2. Turn the system power off and remove the AC power cord.
3. Follow previous steps to install PMC/XMCs and MiniPCIe cards.
4. Carefully slide the VP3500 into a VPX payload slot. Take caution to seat the card firmly in the
chassis by using the ejector handles. If you are using a conduction-cooled model, tighten the
wedge locks.
5. Attach and secure all cables, if used.
6. Replace the system AC power cord and power up the system.
For removal of the VP3500, follow the above mechanical steps in reverse.
