1.5.3 : MiniPCIe Rear IO Adapter
One of the challenges of using MiniPCIe cards is the lack of a standard for accessing the card’s IO signals. The
VP3500 has addressed this by providing a custom adapter card that bridges the MiniPCIe’s IO signals to the VPX
backplane. The adapter card connectors are located near the IO end of the MiniPCIe sockets and are secured to
the VP3500 heat frame via screws.
The adapter cards provide the connector(s) that match your MiniPCIe’s IO connector(s) and plug onto the
VP3500, routing the signals to the VPX backplane. Each adapter is custom-designed to match the MiniPCIe IO
connector(s). The VP3500 routes 20 differential signal pairs with 8 single-ended signals for each MiniPCIe socket.

1.5.4 : Rear Transition Module
Rigel Engineering offers a rear transition IO module with industry-standard connectors for the board’s backplane
IO access. Rigel Engineering will also provide a quick-turn custom rear transition IO module for your requirements.
The standard rear transition module (RT3500-0000) provides access to the following IO:
• VP3500 Momentary reset switch
• VP3500 Momentary power up/down switch
• Microcontroller emulator header
• Microcontroller serial port connector
• Three VPX user-defined LVTTL IO
• Three microcontroller user-defined LVTTL IO
• Twenty MiniPCIe 1 differential signal pairs
